With a population of 262 as of the 2020 census, Allerton is a quiet, rural community situated about 30 miles from both Champaign-Urbana and Danville. The village owes its name and development to Allerton, who contributed significantly to its infrastructure by providing land for a park, establishing a bank, and installing a water system.
