Seven Devils sits along the crest of the Blue Ridge Mountains in northwestern North Carolina, where the long, serrated ridge of Grandfather Mountain dominates the eastern horizon and the twin summits of Hanging Rock and Pilot Mountain rise farther to the northeast. To the west and northwest, the high, rounded domes of Beech Mountain and Sugar Mountain stand across the valley, while the long, straight profile of Roan Mountain and its neighboring high peaks mark the distant Unaka Mountains along the Tennessee line. On clear days the flat-topped bulk of Mount Mitchell can also be seen to the south among the Black Mountains.
