The Near West Side, one of the 77 community areas of Chicago, is on the West Side, west of the Chicago River and adjacent to the Loop. The area is home to the University of Illinois at Chicago, the United Center and the Illinois Medical District.

It comprises the neighborhoods of Greektown, Little Italy, UIC, United Center, and West Loop. Near West Side is home to all or part of the following zip codes: 60606, 60607, 60608, 60610, 60612, and 60661.

Greektown

Greektown

Greektown is a neighborhood in the Near West Side community of Chicago. It is known as a dining and nightlife district and it lies between Van Buren and Madison Streets, along Halsted Street west of the Loop.
Little Italy, UIC

Little Italy, UIC

Little Italy, now called University Village, is a sub-neighborhood in the Near West Side area of Chicago. The boundaries are Ashland Avenue on the west, Interstate 90/94 on the east, the Eisenhower Expressway on the north and 18th Street to the south. The neighborhood is home to the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame and many historic Roman Catholic churches.

United Center is a neighborhood in the Near West Side neighborhood of Chicago. Named for the United Center - it is the home to the Chicago Bulls basketball team and the Chicago Blackhawks hockey team.

West Loop

West Loop

West Loop is a neighborhood in the Near West Side area of Chicago. The West Loop lies along the western bank of the Chicago River and is bordered by Grand Avenue on the north, Ashland Avenue on the west and the Eisenhower Expressway on the south. The West Loop is home to many popular Chicago Restaurants. It is a former manufacturing and warehousing area and many of the buildings have been converted to loft condominiums, restaurants, bars and art galleries.
