Chattahoochee Golf Club sits on the banks of Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Georgia. The course was designed by Donald Ross and opened in 1962. Water comes into play on nine holes, with Lake Lanier forming the backdrop for the closing stretch. Fairways are bermuda grass and greens are bentgrass. The front nine runs through mature pine and hardwood stands, while the back nine opens toward the lake with several holes set on elevated ground above the shoreline. Bunkers are modest in size and placed primarily to guard greens rather than fairways. The property includes a driving range with both grass and mat tees, a short-game area, and a clubhouse that was rebuilt after a 2008 fire. The club hosts the annual Chattahoochee Invitational and is home to the University of North Georgia golf teams.
