Eagle Creek Golf Course occupies rolling terrain southeast of Statesboro that was once farmland and timberland. The layout features bentgrass greens that are firm and fast, bordered by native wiregrass and scattered longleaf pines. Several holes run along a series of natural ponds fed by an intermittent creek; these water hazards come into play on approach shots to the fourth, seventh, and fourteenth greens. Fairways are bermudagrass overseeded with rye in winter, producing a tight lie that rewards controlled iron play. The routing alternates between open stretches and tighter corridors framed by hardwoods, creating constant changes in wind exposure. Bunkers are edged with stacked railroad ties on three holes, a remnant of an earlier renovation. Cart paths follow the natural drainage swales, keeping traffic off the primary playing surfaces. The course is owned by the City of Statesboro and maintained to municipal standards with a full-time superintendent and seasonal crews.
