Gainesville Country Club, Gainesville, FL, Real Estate

Gainesville Country Club occupies a rolling tract of land southwest of downtown Gainesville, Florida, where stands of live oak, sweetgum, and slash pine frame fairways that follow the natural contours of the site. The course was built in 1928 and later redesigned by Donald Ross, whose original routing remains largely intact. Bermuda grass covers the fairways and teeing areas, while TifEagle ultradwarf bermuda is maintained on the putting surfaces. A central irrigation lake doubles as a water hazard on several holes and supplies reclaimed water to the turf. The clubhouse, completed in 1957 and renovated in 2004, houses a grill room, locker facilities, and a pro shop. The club hosts the annual University of Florida men’s and women’s golf tournaments and serves as the home course for the Buchholz High School golf teams. Membership is restricted to residents of Alachua County and adjacent counties, and the club operates under a private-equity ownership structure established in 2016.
