LaPlaya Golf Club occupies a coastal site on Florida’s southwest shore, where fairways are set between stands of mature banyan and slash pine. Water hazards—primarily man-made lakes and tidal lagoons—come into play on twelve holes, and the final four holes run along a mangrove fringe that borders the Gulf. Greens are planted with TifEagle bermudagrass and are maintained at speeds that fluctuate with seasonal humidity. Wind is a constant factor; prevailing onshore breezes from the southwest frequently affect club selection on holes that face the water. The practice facility includes a double-ended range and a short-game area with multiple target greens. Cart paths are paved and separated from play corridors, minimizing interference with natural drainage patterns that channel runoff back into the on-site lakes.
