Luck Golf Course sits on gently rolling glacial terrain just outside Luck, Wisconsin. The fairways follow the natural contours of the landscape, with several holes requiring carries over water hazards and marshy lowlands that were left by retreating ice sheets. Mature stands of oak, maple, and pine frame many of the greens, providing shade and windbreaks but also narrowing the landing areas. The course is built on sandy loam soils that drain quickly after rain, allowing play to resume sooner than at many regional courses. Irrigation is provided by on-site wells rather than municipal supply. The practice facility includes a short-game area with multiple target greens and a putting green set on a slight slope to simulate the speed of the course greens. Cart paths are paved and kept in good repair, though several holes require walking across wooden bridges that cross drainage ditches. The maintenance crew uses a combination of bentgrass and Kentucky bluegrass on the fairways, with creeping bentgrass dominating the putting surfaces.
