Palo Duro Creek Golf Course occupies a high-desert valley just north of Nogales, Arizona, where the Santa Cruz River once carved a broad floodplain. The layout follows the natural contours of the valley floor, routing play between low, rocky ridges and stands of mesquite and desert willow. Fairways are bordered by natural desert vegetation rather than heavily irrigated rough, and several holes cross seasonal washes that remain dry most of the year. The course uses a mix of Bermuda and ryegrass on the teeing areas and putting surfaces, with the latter maintained at a moderate speed suited to the arid climate. Elevation changes are modest but noticeable, particularly on the back nine where the land rises toward the surrounding foothills. A small, spring-fed pond sits between the ninth and eighteenth greens and occasionally influences approach shots on both holes. The practice facility consists of a compact driving range and a short-game area with a single practice green. Maintenance buildings and a modest clubhouse occupy a central location between the first and tenth tees.
