The course was built on former farmland and retains several drainage ditches that cross play, particularly on the opening stretch. Greens are small and sloped, with many set against river bends or tucked behind stands of oak and maple. Several holes follow the water’s edge for long stretches, exposing play to prevailing winds that sweep off the river. Bunkers are modest in size and mostly guard front or side approaches rather than wrapping entire greens.
