Rockford Country Club occupies a rolling site along the Rock River in northern Illinois. The course opened in 1899 and was redesigned by Donald Ross in 1929. Fairways follow the river’s bends and are framed by mature oak and maple stands. The layout includes several long par-four holes that play downhill toward the water and a pair of par-three holes that require carries over small ponds. Greens are bentgrass and are maintained to a moderate speed; most are elevated and slope from back to front. The practice facility includes a driving range with target greens and a short-game area adjacent to the clubhouse. The clubhouse, built in 1927, features a veranda that overlooks the 18th green and river.
