San Ignacio North occupies a flat desert valley floor bordered by low ridges that rise sharply on the east side. The course layout alternates between wide, open fairways and tighter corridors framed by stands of saguaro, ocotillo, and mesquite. Several holes run parallel to the Santa Cruz River wash, where winter rains can briefly create shallow washes across the low spots. Greens are built on subtle crowns that slope away into collection areas, requiring careful distance control on approach shots. A handful of man-made ponds serve as both hazards and irrigation reservoirs, positioned just beyond the landing zones on three separate holes. The turf consists of Bermuda grass overseeded with rye in winter, cut firm on the fairways and slightly softer around the greens. Cart paths are concrete and run along the perimeter of each hole, keeping vehicles off the primary playing surfaces.
