Sentryworld Sports Center occupies a wooded site in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where a long, narrow creek and several ponds shape the layout. The front nine plays through a former pine plantation that still shows evenly spaced rows of red pine; the back nine shifts to rolling terrain and stands of oak and maple. Fairways are primarily Kentucky bluegrass and perennial rye, mown at a moderate height that allows a clean clubhead release. Greens are built to USGA specifications with a sand-based root zone and bentgrass surfaces maintained at roughly one-eighth inch. Cart paths follow the perimeter of each hole, keeping foot traffic off the playing surfaces. The clubhouse, a single-story cedar-and-stone building completed in 1982, houses a pro shop, a grill, and locker rooms; it sits between the first and tenth tees. Irrigation is supplied by an on-site well and pond system that feeds quick-coupling valves spaced throughout the rough. Maintenance equipment is stored in an adjacent metal building that also contains the golf course superintendent’s office.
