The Golf Courses of Lawsonia – Links Course is situated on rolling terrain overlooking Green Lake in east-central Wisconsin. The layout was originally designed by William Langford and Theodore Moreau in the late 1920s and has been restored and updated several times since. Its fairways follow the natural contours of glacial ridges and valleys, crossing several deep ravines that require precise placement off the tee. Native fescue grasses frame the landing areas and rough, producing a firm, fast playing surface typical of inland links-style courses. Several greens are elevated and crowned, with run-off slopes that reward accurate approach shots while penalizing shots that miss short or long. Bunkers are strategically placed to guard the most common lines of play, rather than simply framing the greens. Wind moving across the open property frequently affects club selection, particularly on the higher ground. The course’s irrigation system draws from Green Lake, maintaining turf conditions even during dry summer months.
