Walnut Creek Country Club occupies a rolling tract of land a few miles west of Goldsboro. The course winds through stands of loblolly pine and opens onto gently contoured fairways framed by native grasses and drainage swales. Water hazards appear on several holes, usually as ponds set at the inside of doglegs or as narrow creeks crossing the approach. The greens are built to USGA standards, with subtle slope changes that reward accurate distance control. Bent-grass surfaces are maintained at moderate speed, and surrounding aprons are cut tight to allow bump-and-run shots when wind is present. Tee boxes sit at varying elevations, giving players different angles into the same green complexes on successive rounds. Cart paths follow the natural contours and keep traffic off most landing areas. The practice facility includes a short-game area with sand and bent-grass targets, plus a driving range oriented toward a single distant target green. Clubhouse amenities are limited to a pro shop and a grill that opens onto a covered veranda facing the eighteenth green.
