Wedgewood Golf Course sits on 150 acres of former farmland in Joliet, Illinois. The fairways follow the gently rolling terrain created by glacial deposits, with subtle elevation changes that affect shot selection on several holes. Water hazards appear on nine holes, primarily in the form of retention ponds and drainage channels that were part of the original agricultural landscape. The course features bentgrass greens that were rebuilt in 2012, and the rough consists of a mix of Kentucky bluegrass and fescue. Mature oak and maple trees line several fairways, planted when the course opened in 1972. The practice facility includes a 300-yard driving range with both natural grass and artificial turf hitting areas, plus a short-game area with two practice greens and a bunker. The course uses a GPS system installed in carts in 2018 that provides yardage information and course management suggestions. Maintenance records show the greens are mowed daily during the growing season to a height of 0.110 inches.
