Wee-Ma-Tuk Hills sits on gently rolling ground shaped by glacial deposits in western Illinois. The fairways follow the natural contours, rising and falling through stands of oak and hickory that line most holes. Several teeing areas sit on modest rises, giving players elevated views across valleys where the ball travels farther before settling on firm, well-drained turf. The course makes repeated use of the site’s drainage swales, which channel water away from play but also create strategic hazards on several approaches. Bunkers are placed primarily to guard greens rather than fairways, and the putting surfaces vary in size and contour, some crowned and others tilted from back to front. Maintenance records show consistent use of bentgrass on the greens and a fescue-bluegrass mix in the rough, producing tight lies in the fairway and thicker lies off it.
