Adelmann Park, Lockport, IL

Adelmann Park spans 46 acres at the south end of Lockport and is bordered by the Des Plaines River and the I&M Canal. A 1.3-mile crushed-limestone trail loops through restored prairie and oak woodland, linking directly to the 9.5-mile I&M Canal State Trail. The park contains two lighted softball diamonds, four tennis courts, a playground with poured-in-place surfacing, two picnic shelters with grills, and a sled hill. Restrooms and drinking fountains are located at the main parking lot. Because the park sits within a half-mile of downtown Lockport’s Metra station and the shops along State Street, residents can reach commuter service or everyday retail on foot or by bicycle. The combination of river views, connected trails, and active-recreation courts gives homeowners a single destination for exercise, family outings, and access to regional greenways.
