Ahlstrand Park, Hanover Park, IL

Ahlstrand Park spans 25 acres along the east side of Hanover Park, with a paved trail that connects directly to the regional Salt Creek Greenway. The trail system includes a 0.7-mile loop around a central detention pond and links to additional paths that extend into neighboring communities. Two lighted ball fields, four tennis courts, and a playground with separate equipment for different age groups provide organized and informal recreation. Picnic shelters, restrooms, and parking are located near the main entrance off Schick Road, while a smaller lot on Wise Road serves trail users. Mature trees line the western edge, and open turf areas are maintained for pick-up sports. The park is one block from the Hanover Park Metra station and within a short drive of the I-390 expressway, allowing residents to reach downtown Chicago or Schaumburg employment centers without crossing major arterial roads.
