Algonquin Lakes Park covers 36 acres at the intersection of Algonquin Road and Lake Cook Road, immediately south of the main residential neighborhoods. A 1.3-mile paved loop trail circles the central lake, connecting to three fishing piers, two playgrounds, and a sand-volleyball court. The park also contains three full-size baseball fields, two lighted tennis courts, and a 4,800-square-foot picnic shelter with restrooms and electrical outlets. Mature oak and maple trees line the shoreline, providing shade for the 0.6-acre beach designated for swimming from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The park sits less than one mile from the Algonquin municipal library, the Metra Union Pacific Northwest line station, and the Algonquin Commons retail center, allowing residents to reach daily errands or commuter service by bicycle or on foot.
