Avoca Park, Wilmette, IL

Avoca Park covers 13.7 acres in central Wilmette and functions as the primary athletic and recreation site for the park district. Two full-size turf fields host youth and adult soccer, lacrosse, and football practices and games, while four lighted tennis courts remain open until 10 p.m. A 0.6-mile paved loop circles the park perimeter and connects to the village’s sidewalk network, allowing residents to walk or bike directly from nearby neighborhoods. The playground area includes modern equipment suitable for a range of ages, and adjacent open lawn space supports informal picnics and kite flying. Mature oak and maple trees provide shade along the edges, and the park’s central location places it within a short walk of Metra’s Union Pacific North Line and several retail corridors along Green Bay Road. Evening field lighting and well-maintained restrooms make the park usable after typical work hours for both organized sports and casual exercise.
