Baker Park covers 16.5 acres at the corner of Simpson and Dewey in Evanston. A paved walking loop circles the perimeter, and a crushed-stone spur connects to the Green Bay Trail, giving residents a continuous route north to Wilmette and south toward the lakefront. Two lighted tennis courts, a softball diamond, and an outdoor basketball court sit along the eastern edge; the playground at the west end features a poured-rubber surface and climbing equipment for a range of ages. A small picnic grove with tables and grills is shaded by mature oaks, and restrooms remain open year-round. The park is two blocks from the Central Street business district, so groceries, cafés, and the Metra station are within a five-minute walk. Street parking is permitted on three sides, and a small lot on the north side provides additional spaces for visitors arriving by car.
