Beaubien Woods Forest Preserve occupies 345 acres along the Little Calumet River in Dolton, Illinois. The preserve contains 4.2 miles of paved and crushed-stone trails that connect to the Cal-Sag Trail, allowing residents to bicycle or walk east toward Lake Michigan or west to the Palos Forest Preserves. Two fishing lagoons stocked with largemouth bass and bluegill are located near the 147th Street entrance, and a boat launch provides access for small watercraft. Picnic groves equipped with grills and tables sit under mature oak and hickory trees, while an archery range and model-airplane field serve specialized recreational interests. The site’s flat terrain and open sight lines make it suitable for families with children or individuals using mobility devices. Restrooms and drinking fountains operate year-round at the main parking area, and the preserve lies less than two miles from the Dolton Metra Electric station, providing a 30-minute ride to downtown Chicago.
