Blackwell Forest Preserve spans more than 1,300 acres in Warrenville and features the 90-acre Silver Lake, where residents launch kayaks, paddleboards, and small boats from the launch at the south end. Eight miles of crushed-limestone trails loop through prairie, oak savanna, and restored wetland areas, connecting to the regional Prairie Path and the DuPage River Trail. The preserve’s two picnic shelters, each with grills and nearby parking, accommodate weekend gatherings, while the adjacent McKee Marsh boardwalk provides elevated views of migratory waterfowl. A fishing pier on Silver Lake is stocked annually, and the on-site visitor center offers maps, restrooms, and drinking water. The preserve sits less than two miles from the Illinois Prairie Path–Warrenville station on Metra’s Union Pacific West Line and is bordered by two major east-west arterials, allowing quick drives to downtown Naperville or Wheaton for groceries, restaurants, and services.
