Bliss Woods Forest Preserve in Sugar Grove covers more than 1,000 acres of woodland, wetland, and restored prairie along the Fox River corridor. The preserve includes over seven miles of marked trails for hiking, running, and cross-country skiing, plus a 1.8-mile equestrian loop open to horseback riders. A 30-acre dog park with separate areas for small and large dogs is located near the main parking area off Bliss Road. Picnic shelters, restrooms, and drinking water are available year-round, and the preserve is open daily from sunrise to sunset with no entry fee. The Fox River Trail, a paved regional path, passes through the property, providing a direct off-road route to downtown Aurora and other Kane County communities. Birders frequently observe sandhill cranes, warblers, and waterfowl in the wetlands, while the mature oak-hickory forest supplies shade along much of the interior trail system. Its location less than five minutes from the Sugar Grove Metra station and the I-88 interchange places the preserve within a short drive of shopping, schools, and healthcare facilities in Aurora and Naperville.
