Braidwood Dunes Nature Preserve covers 276 acres of sand prairie and oak savanna just outside Braidwood, Illinois. The preserve features three marked hiking trails totaling 4.3 miles that wind through dunes, wetlands, and restored grasslands. Visitors can observe native plant species including compass plant, prairie blazing star, and black oak, as well as wildlife such as sandhill cranes and various butterfly species.
