Bright Meadows Park, Round Lake, IL

Bright Meadows Park spans more than 60 acres along the north shore of Round Lake and offers residents direct access to the lake for kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing. A paved loop trail encircles the shoreline, connecting to the 10-mile Round Lake Trail system that runs east to Lake Villa and west toward Grayslake. Two playgrounds, a sand volleyball court, and a reservable picnic shelter with grills sit near the main parking lot. A dedicated dog-exercise area is fenced and includes agility equipment and a separate small-dog zone. Open turf fields accommodate soccer and lacrosse practice, while a small native-prairie restoration area provides habitat for local pollinators. Restrooms and drinking fountains are open year-round, and the park is lit until 10 p.m. for evening walks. The site is a five-minute drive from downtown Round Lake’s Metra station and grocery stores on Rollins Road, placing shopping and commuter rail within easy reach of surrounding neighborhoods.
