Brook Prairie, Naperville, IL

Brook Prairie occupies 60 acres in southwest Naperville and is bordered by the DuPage River and the DuPage County Forest Preserve. A paved regional trail runs the length of the park and connects directly to the 30-mile DuPage River Trail, allowing residents to reach downtown Naperville or the Illinois Prairie Path by bicycle. Inside the park, a large playground, two baseball diamonds, six lighted tennis courts, and a fishing pond stocked annually by the Forest Preserve District provide immediate recreation options. The central picnic shelter overlooks restored tall-grass prairie and seasonal wildflowers, while boardwalks cross wetlands that attract waterfowl. From the southern edge of the park, commuters reach the Naperville Metra station in roughly eight minutes by car and Interstate 88 in under ten, placing both downtown Chicago and western suburbs within a practical daily range.
