Central Park in Vernon Hills includes 90 acres of open space with a network of paved trails suitable for walking, jogging, and cycling. The park contains a fishing pond stocked by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, multiple playgrounds, tennis courts, and baseball and soccer fields. A central pavilion provides restrooms and shaded seating near the main parking area. The landscape consists of mowed turf, scattered trees, and low-lying wetland areas that remain undeveloped. The park is adjacent to the Vernon Hills Metra station on the Milwaukee District North Line and lies within one mile of the Hawthorn Center retail corridor along Route 60. Public records show the park is maintained by the Vernon Hills Park District and remains open daily from dawn until dusk.
