Clarence F. Buckingham Memorial Fountain sits at the center of Grant Park, directly between Lake Shore Drive and South Columbus Drive. The fountain runs daily from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m., with 20-minute water-and-light shows every hour after dusk. Wide concrete walkways radiate from its base, connecting to the 18-mile Lakefront Trail that runs north to Ardmore Avenue and south to 71st Street. Restrooms and drinking fountains are located at the southeast corner of the fountain plaza, and benches line the perimeter for seating. The surrounding 319-acre park includes softball fields, tennis courts, and the Lakefront Trail’s protected bike lane. From the fountain’s raised viewing platform, visitors can see both the downtown skyline and Lake Michigan. The fountain is a short walk from the Roosevelt and Harrison CTA stations and is adjacent to the Museum Campus, Soldier Field, and the lakefront beaches at 12th Street and 31st Street.
