Country Trails Parkway is a 3.1-mile paved multi-use trail that runs through central Gurnee, connecting residential neighborhoods to several public parks and open spaces. The trail passes through the 134-acre Warren Township Sports Complex, which includes baseball fields, soccer pitches, and a playground. Additional access points link to Viking Park and Hunt Club Park, both of which feature picnic shelters, restrooms, and walking paths. The route crosses the Des Plaines River on a dedicated pedestrian bridge, providing views of the river corridor and adjacent wooded areas. Cyclists and runners can continue north to the 6-mile Des Plaines River Trail, which extends from the Wisconsin border to the Chicago area. The parkway also intersects with Gurnee’s street grid at multiple points, placing residents within two miles of Interstate 94, the Gurnee Mills retail corridor, and the Warren Township administrative campus. Seasonal landscaping along the trail includes native prairie plantings and mature oak stands that provide shade in summer and color in fall.
