Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve spans 788 acres of wetland, prairie, and oak woodland within Lake Zurich, offering residents direct access to more than four miles of crushed-limestone trails that accommodate hiking, jogging, and cycling. The preserve’s central marsh provides seasonal waterfowl viewing and connects to the 20-mile Old Schoolhouse Trail, allowing cyclists to reach nearby towns without driving. Picnic shelters, a fishing pier, and an archery range are located near the main parking area off Cuba Road, while several smaller trailheads along Cuba and Quentin Roads provide additional entry points. The preserve lies less than three miles from downtown Lake Zurich’s retail corridor and Metra station, and it is bordered by established residential subdivisions, giving homeowners a large natural area within a short drive or bike ride of schools, grocery stores, and commuter rail service.
