Dooley Park, Schaumburg, IL

Dooley Park occupies 16 acres in northwest Schaumburg and functions as a hub for outdoor recreation. A 1.2-mile paved loop circles the park and connects to the larger Schaumburg Bicycle and Pedestrian Path system, allowing residents to reach nearby shopping centers and the Metra station without driving. Two playgrounds, one designed for ages two to five and another for ages five to twelve, sit beside a shaded picnic grove with grills and restrooms. Six lighted tennis courts and a basketball court host league play, while two baseball diamonds are lined for youth leagues. A fishing pond stocked by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources draws anglers, and a nine-hole disc-golf course winds through mature oak trees along the eastern edge. The park is adjacent to the Schaumburg Public Library and the 100,000-square-foot Community Recreation Center, giving residents immediate access to indoor fitness classes, an indoor track, and aquatic facilities.
