Elawa Park, Lake Forest, IL

Elawa Park spans 40 acres in Lake Forest and includes a playground, open athletic fields, and a 0.7-mile paved loop trail that connects to the Old Green Bay Trail. The park’s terrain mixes open lawns with mature oak and hickory woodland, providing both sunlit play areas and shaded walking routes. A small fishing pond stocked with bluegill and largemouth bass sits near the trail’s eastern edge, and two picnic shelters with adjacent grills are available for reservation. Restrooms, drinking fountains, and off-street parking are located at the main entrance on Old Elm Road, roughly 1.5 miles from the Metra Union Pacific North Line station and the specialty shops along Western Avenue. The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset, and leashed dogs are permitted on the trail and in designated areas.
