Emmerich East Park occupies 20 acres at the corner of Checker Road and Deerfield Parkway in Buffalo Grove. Its main draw for residents is the 1.1-mile paved loop that circles the park’s open fields and connects directly to the village’s larger trail network, allowing uninterrupted travel to the Des Plaines River Trail and nearby forest preserves. The park includes two full-size baseball diamonds with permanent fencing, four lighted tennis courts, a basketball court, two playgrounds with modular climbing structures, and a 12,000-square-foot skate park built to Skatepark Association standards. A 4-acre retention pond stocked with bluegill and largemouth bass is open to catch-and-release fishing, while surrounding benches and a covered pavilion offer shaded seating overlooking the water. The park’s flat terrain and continuous lighting make it suitable for evening walks and bike rides year-round. Adjacent to the park entrance, a Metra station parking lot provides commuter access, and several grocery stores and restaurants lie within a half-mile radius along Deerfield Parkway.
