Ferson Creek Forest Preserve, St. Charles, IL

Ferson Creek Forest Preserve occupies 308 acres along the Fox River in St. Charles and includes more than five miles of multi-use trails that connect to the Fox River Trail. The preserve features a 40-acre wetland complex, an oak-hickory woodland, and a 1.3-mile boardwalk that crosses Ferson Creek, offering level access for walking, running, and cycling. A large picnic shelter with adjacent playground equipment is available for family gatherings, while an archery range and fishing areas along the creek provide additional recreational options. The preserve is located less than two miles from downtown St. Charles, where residents can access shops, restaurants, and the Metra Union Pacific West Line station for commuting to Chicago. Parking lots at the main entrance on Dean Street and at the south trailhead on IL Route 31 accommodate vehicles and horse trailers, and restrooms are open year-round at the Dean Street facility.
