Fetzner Park, Crystal Lake, IL

Fetzner Park occupies 38 acres along the northeast edge of Crystal Lake and is maintained by the Crystal Lake Park District. A paved 1.2-mile loop trail circles the park’s open fields and connects to the 4-mile Prairie Trail system, which runs north–south through McHenry County. The park includes two lighted baseball diamonds, four tennis courts, a playground with separate tot-lot equipment, and two reservable picnic shelters with grills. A small pond stocked for catch-and-release fishing sits near the parking area, and seasonal ice-skating rinks are set up on the athletic fields in winter. Mature oak and hickory trees line the northern boundary, providing shade for spectators and evening walkers. The park is three blocks from the Metra Union Pacific Northwest line station and less than two miles from U.S. Route 14, allowing residents to reach downtown Crystal Lake or the Randall Road retail corridor in under ten minutes by car.
