Fourth Lake Forest Preserve covers 848 acres in Lake Villa and is managed by the Lake County Forest Preserve District. It includes 4.5 miles of multi-use trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, plus a 1.7-mile accessible boardwalk that loops around Fourth Lake. Visitors can launch non-motorized boats from the canoe landing or fish from the shoreline. Picnic shelters, restrooms, and a dog-friendly area with water access are available near the main parking lot. The preserve also contains restored prairie and wetland habitats that support native plants and wildlife. Its location along Grass Lake Road provides direct access to the 26-mile Des Plaines River Trail, linking residents to other county preserves. Nearby commercial corridors on Grand Avenue and Route 83 supply grocery stores, restaurants, and other services within a short drive.
