Freedom Park spans 103 acres in New Lenox and includes a 2.5-mile paved trail that connects directly to the Old Plank Road Trail, allowing residents to walk or bike into downtown New Lenox or toward neighboring communities. The park features two lighted baseball/softball fields, four lighted tennis courts, two sand volleyball courts, a 9-hole disc golf course, and a large playground with equipment designed for multiple age groups. A fishing pond stocked by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources offers catch-and-release opportunities, while an adjacent picnic shelter and open green space accommodate family gatherings. The park’s central location places it less than one mile from the New Lenox Metra station and within a short drive of Interstate 80, simplifying commutes to Chicago or Joliet. Seasonal programs such as youth sports leagues and fitness classes are run through the New Lenox Park District and operate out of the park’s field house, which also contains restrooms and drinking fountains.
