Hanover Bluff Nature Preserve spans 77 acres of oak-hickory woodland and glacial bluff along the East Branch of the DuPage River. A 1.2-mile crushed-stone trail loops from the parking lot on Schick Road through upland forest and a 40-foot-high bluff overlook. The preserve connects directly to the 40-mile Illinois Prairie Path, allowing residents to walk or bike into downtown Hanover Park or to the Metra Milwaukee District West Line station in under 30 minutes. On-site facilities include a sheltered picnic grove with tables and grills, a fishing access point along the river, and seasonal archery stands managed by the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. Native plant restoration areas border the trail, and the bluff face supports a small population of rare cliff goldenrod. The preserve is three minutes by car from the Hanover Park Park District Community Center and Aquatic Center and less than five minutes from the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway, placing it within a 25-minute drive of both O’Hare International Airport and downtown Chicago.
