Harms Woods Forest Preserve, Glenview, IL

Harms Woods Forest Preserve covers 200 acres of oak-hickory woodland and wetland habitat along the North Branch of the Chicago River. A 1.7-mile paved multi-use trail runs the length of the preserve, connecting to the North Branch Trail system and providing direct bicycle and pedestrian access to downtown Glenview and the Metra station. The preserve includes a fishing pier, picnic shelters with grills, and two playgrounds, as well as a 0.6-mile nature trail through the floodplain forest. Seasonal waterfowl viewing is available from an observation platform overlooking the river. Restrooms and drinking fountains are located at the main parking area on Harms Road. The preserve is managed by the Forest Preserves of Cook County, which maintains the trails and facilities year-round. Its location at the intersection of Harms and Old Willow Roads places it within a five-minute drive of the Glen Town Center shopping district and Interstate 94.
