Hawthorne Park in West Chicago spans 44 acres with a 1.5-mile paved trail that loops through open fields and wooded sections. The park features two playgrounds, six lighted tennis courts, four baseball diamonds, two soccer fields, and a skate park. A fishing pond stocked by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources sits near the main parking area, while the DuPage River runs along the eastern edge, providing a natural buffer between the park and surrounding neighborhoods. The DuPage County Forest Preserve maintains a connecting trail at the south end that extends west toward the Great Western Trail. During summer months the on-site aquatic center operates with a zero-depth pool, water slides, and lap lanes. The park is located one mile west of downtown West Chicago and is accessible via Route 59 and North Avenue, placing it within a short drive of Metra’s Union Pacific West Line station.
