Hickory Park, Mundelein, IL

Hickory Park in Mundelein sits on 47 acres of open space with two miles of paved trails that connect directly to the Des Plaines River Trail. The park includes three baseball fields, two basketball courts, a playground, and a 10-acre off-leash dog area. A 1.5-mile nature trail loops through restored prairie and oak-hickory woodland, passing two ponds stocked for fishing. Picnic shelters, restrooms, and drinking fountains are spaced along the main loop. The park entrance lies two miles from downtown Mundelein and one mile from Metra’s North Central Service line, giving residents quick access to grocery stores, restaurants, and the Mundelein Public Library. Parking lots at both entrances provide overflow for weekend users, and the park is open daily from sunrise to sunset.
