Hill Street Nature Center covers 16 acres of preserved wetland and woodland along the Des Plaines River corridor. A 0.9-mile crushed-limestone loop trail circles the site, connecting to a boardwalk that extends over cattail marsh where herons, egrets, and migrating waterfowl are commonly observed. Two observation decks provide elevated views across open water and into the adjacent forest canopy. The center includes a small parking area, restrooms, and a shelter with picnic tables, all within a short walk of downtown Mount Prospect’s Metra station and the village’s library and aquatic center. The combination of maintained trails, wildlife habitat, and immediate access to commuter rail and local services gives residents convenient outdoor recreation without leaving the village limits.
