Huckleberry Park, Chicago, IL

Huckleberry Park occupies 13 acres in Chicago’s West Ridge neighborhood, bordered by Touhy Avenue and California Avenue. A paved 0.6-mile loop path circles the grounds, and an adjacent 1.4-mile segment of the North Shore Channel Trail connects cyclists and runners to Lincolnwood and Evanston. Two full-size baseball diamonds and a soccer field are lined with chain-link fencing and equipped with bleachers; a separate playground area contains modular climbing structures and two swing sets. A small pond at the southeast corner supports seasonal fishing under city permit. Restrooms, drinking fountains, and a parking lot sit near the main entrance on the west side. The park is three blocks south of the Touhy & Western stop on CTA bus route 96 and roughly one mile from the Northtown Library branch and several grocery stores on Devon Avenue. Mature oak and maple trees provide shade along the northern edge, while open turf in the center allows clear sightlines across the grounds.
