Karen Springs Park spans 65 acres in Lockport and includes a 1.8-mile paved trail that connects to the I&M Canal State Trail, allowing residents to walk or bike directly to downtown Lockport without driving. The park features three lighted baseball diamonds, two full-size soccer fields, six tennis courts, and a playground with separate areas for ages 2–5 and 5–12. A 14-acre retention lake supports catch-and-release fishing and is bordered by a boardwalk and two observation decks. Picnic shelters, a sand volleyball court, and restrooms are clustered near the parking lot, while the remaining acreage is left in native prairie and oak woodland, providing shaded walking paths and seasonal wildflower displays. The park is located less than one mile from the Metra Rock Island District line, giving commuters direct service to downtown Chicago.
