Kenyon Farm Forest Preserve, Elgin, IL

Kenyon Farm Forest Preserve covers 106 acres of open land and wooded areas along the Fox River in Elgin. The preserve includes a 2.4-mile network of crushed-stone trails that connect to the Fox River Trail, allowing residents to walk or cycle directly from their neighborhoods to downtown Elgin or the 40-mile Grand Illinois Trail system. A fishing pier and riverbank access provide year-round angling for bass, catfish, and walleye, while the 28-acre restored prairie attracts birds and pollinators. Picnic shelters and a small parking area with restrooms are located near the main trailhead on Highland Avenue. The preserve sits within a mile of Route 31 and the Metra Union Pacific Northwest line, giving homeowners quick drives or short train rides to Schaumburg’s Woodfield Mall and O’Hare International Airport.
