Kiwanis Park, Elgin, IL

Kiwanis Park covers 20 acres at the intersection of McLean Boulevard and Larkin Avenue in Elgin. Its 1.3-mile paved loop accommodates walkers, joggers, and cyclists, while an adjacent 0.4-mile crushed-stone path borders Tyler Creek. A fenced playground with modern equipment sits near restrooms and drinking fountains. Two lighted softball diamonds and a youth baseball field share space with a soccer pitch and two sand volleyball courts. Picnic shelters equipped with grills and electrical outlets can be reserved through the Elgin Parks Department. Mature oak and maple trees provide shade around a 3-acre retention pond stocked for catch-and-release fishing. The park lies less than a mile from downtown Elgin Metra station and the Prairie Path regional trail, connecting residents to both local shopping districts and longer-distance bicycle routes.
