Leahy Park, Evanston, IL

Leahy Park occupies 23 acres in central Evanston and includes a 1.3-mile paved loop trail that connects directly to the city’s larger bicycle network. Two lighted tennis courts, a full-size baseball diamond with dugouts, and a sand volleyball court sit along the west edge, while the east side features a playground with rubber surfacing and two sheltered picnic areas. The park’s central pond supports seasonal fishing and is ringed by benches and native plantings. Restrooms, drinking fountains, and free parking are located near the main entrance on Oakton Street. The park is three blocks from the Metra Union Pacific North line and within a half-mile of downtown Evanston’s grocery stores, library branch, and post office, giving residents convenient access to both daily errands and longer recreational routes.
