Leavitt Park, Flossmoor, IL

Leavitt Park occupies 34 acres at the north end of Flossmoor and serves as the village’s primary outdoor recreation site. A 1.3-mile paved loop trail circles the park, connecting to the Old Plank Road Trail and giving residents direct access to a 130-mile regional network. The park contains six lighted tennis courts, two full-size baseball diamonds, a soccer field, two playgrounds, and a 14,000-square-foot recreation building with meeting rooms and restrooms. A six-acre retention pond stocked for catch-and-release fishing is bordered by native prairie plantings that provide seasonal color and habitat for migratory birds. Mature oak and hickory stands shade picnic shelters and offer short walking paths. The park is located within a half-mile of the Flossmoor Metra station and Flossmoor Road commercial corridor, allowing residents to reach downtown Chicago in under an hour or run errands without using a car.
